402 Union Avenue Tops Out in Williamsburg, Brooklyn

Construction has topped out on 402 Union Avenue, a six-story residential building in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Designed by Kao Hwa Architects P.C. for 402 Union Associates LLC, the structure will span 10,100 square feet and yield six condominium units. The project is located on a 0.3-acre parcel at the corner of Union Avenue and Ainslie Street.

A flag has been added to the pinnacle of the steel-framed superstructure, signifying its structural completion. Crews are now in the process of framing out the perimeter with metal studs behind the assembly of scaffolding and blue netting.

The below rendering from the construction board depicts the façade composed of light gray paneling surrounding a grid of windows of varying widths. Large industrial-style windows enclose the western corner of the top three stories, and balconies with black metal railings protrude from the narrow face along Union Avenue. Slender light fixtures are attached to the walls at street level, and a canopy hangs over the front entrance. The building culminates in a flat parapet topped with a landscaped roof deck.

Joseph Banda and Yosef Beer acquired the property for $2.77 million from Robert Weil in December 2023. Andrew Manasia, Matthew Cosentino & Daniel (Dan) Lebor of Terra CRG brokered the deal.

No list of amenities has been announced.

The nearest subways from the development are the L train at the Lorimer Street station and the G train at the Metropolitan Avenue station.

402 Union Avenue’s anticipated completion date is slated for summer 2025, as noted on site. However, YIMBY expects work to finish closer to the end of this year.

  1. Considering that this is being built on a street that looks like a row of shipping containers stacked up at the port of Elizabeth, New Jersey, this will fit in perfectly.

  2. I agree with Majordomo2. There is probably a reason both old buildings and new ones on this street are so ugly.

This site was stalled for almost a decade after the 2008 crash. Did they even keep anything from that version of the project?
