Construction is complete on the first phase of Lighthouse Point, a mixed-use development at 5 Bay Street in St. George, Staten Island. Designed by Cooper Carry Architects and developed by Triangle Equities, the project yields 115 residential units, 60,000 square feet of commercial space, and 274 parking spaces. The property sits on a historically significant site once home to the U.S. Lighthouse Service General Depot. Work is backed by $16.5 million from Empire State Development.
Apartments at Lighthouse Point are offered in configurations ranging from studios to two-bedroom layouts. Amenities include a harbor-view terrace, rooftop lounge, and fitness center. Commercial tenants confirmed to date include the College of Staten Island Tech Incubator, The Learning Experience childcare center, and Club Pilates.
The project site has undergone extensive remediation and preservation work due to its prior use as a lighthouse depot from 1863 to 1966, after which it was transferred to the City. Construction of the first phase generated over 1,200 jobs and is expected to create approximately 100 permanent positions.
Lighthouse Point is located adjacent to the St. George Ferry Terminal, providing residents with direct access to Manhattan via the Staten Island Ferry.
“Lighthouse Point demonstrates what’s possible when we combine regional vision with strategic planning,” said NYCREDC co-chairs Félix V. Matos Rodríguez and William D. Rahm. “By transforming a long-vacant, historically significant site into a thriving hub of housing, commerce, and innovation, this development delivers urgently needed affordable housing while positioning Staten Island’s North Shore as an economic powerhouse that will benefit residents and businesses for generations to come.”
