Governor Kathy Hochul, Mayor Eric Adams, and NYCHA CEO Lisa Bova-Hiatt have announced the completion of capital improvements to public housing developments throughout New York City. Funded by $1.2 billion in state allocations through the Dormitory Authority of the State of New York (DASNY), the work includes 125 elevator replacements, 17 heating system upgrades, and 36 building façade renovations, impacting 24 NYCHA developments and nearly 39,000 residents across all five boroughs.

In addition to the completed work, another 126 elevators, 105 heating systems, and 29 façades are currently under construction, with further upgrades in design and procurement stages. These additional projects, comprising 172 elevators and 59 façades, will bring the total benefit to approximately 123,000 residents across 75 NYCHA developments. The funding stems from three agreements since 2021 and has been supplemented with a new $365 million allocation as part of the FY25 and FY26 budgets.

Specific developments receiving improvements include Unity Plaza in Brooklyn, which saw new elevators installed, and the Pink Houses, where heating system upgrades were completed. Other upgrades were carried out at Pelham Parkway Houses in The Bronx, Queensbridge North in Queens, and multiple properties in Manhattan, including Douglass I, Douglass II, and the Thomas Apartments.

  1. Nothing done to apartments on the UWS, Morningside Heights, or West Harlem.

  2. All of NYCHA should have received Apartment and Elevator upgrades What about Amsterdam Addition on the UWS?

  3. Waiting for an accessible apartment at red hook east Brooklyn NY. They’re Still under construction , pray they are doing a great job, and that we get the call soon.

  4. Marble Hill Houses has been covered with scaffolding and no work being done for almost 10 years.

They started working on St. Nicholas housing last year. There are 14 buildings, 13 floors each in the complex. I know they already started working on one for sure. Maybe number two? My building is sometime the end of next year supposedly

  6. I don’t ever see investments into nycha improvements there’s still alot of apartments with holes in the wall, mold ,and broken front doors but quickly to take care of and defend illegal immigrants same old democrats

  8. What about king towes ALWAYS BROKEN ELEVATOR and building repair and don’t forget the rat issues

  9. For over thirty years why is Lafayette Gardens in District 35 always ignored the benches are raggedy no parks for children to play in and not one basketball court but yet we always get rent increases it’s not fair we got no improvements and we get rent increases.

  10. America as a whole, let inclusive Most the State Politicians only look out for their self greedy interests, this Governor Hochul, to me,is One of the best Governors out there, but they all always come to the rescue too late, this is an American formula “too little too late”, it takes for great damages, death and tragedies to occur first and then the Federal and States starts making 🐢 turtle moves, most of the time close to when they need your votes, money or support.
    What is new?

  11. My previous comment was hastily being posted, and did not have the time to read proof it for errors and typos.

I apologize for the typo, and the right punctuation in some sentences.

  12. What’s going on with st.nick houses Lincoln houses Drew Hamilton projects

  13. Gotta say, I’m surprised to see so many NYCHA residents on New York YIMBY. Not the demographic I expected, but very welcome.

  14. Where? The building that live in is worst than ever!! The hallways floors haven’t been cleaned for months and upgrades to anything.
Can they specify which NYCHA buildings got those funds?

  15. On paper but not in reality. Wasting City funds.

  16. Why they didn’t do smith houses we need it as well

  17. of course, more tax subsidy lol. Literally 40% of NYC apartments are rent-stabilized, meaning there’s loss in tax revenues from those buildings (=indirect tax subsidy) leading to acceleration of rent hikes for market rate buildings

  18. I am so mad how they have 18-20 billion to spend for new modern detention centers or 8 billion to house illegals in luxury hotels but no money for the subway or projects like this. Absolutely infuriating how for criminals and illegals their comfort is higher priority than New Yorkers.

  19. So what happen to Brownsville development, van dyke ,Tilden etc. What was done their the place is still a mess leaks, broken elevators ,paint jobs needed .
