NYC Parks has completed a $2.4 million reconstruction of Chief Dennis L. Devlin Park in Unionport, The Bronx. Funded through the Community Parks Initiative, the project rebuilt the park at Ellis Avenue, Olmstead Avenue, and the Cross Bronx Expressway Service Road.
Reconstruction efforts added new concrete and asphalt pavement, painted games, ADA-accessible seating, a new sidewalk along Olmstead Avenue, and improved entrances. The reconstruction also installed a spray shower, drinking fountain, ground hydrant, new perimeter fencing, and expanded planting areas.
Safety and access upgrades include seven new light poles, three new luminaires on existing street poles, and three widened entrance points. Amenities for dog walkers were also added, including a waste bag dispenser and dog bowl on the bottle filler.
The nearest subway from the park is the 6 train at the Castle Hill Avenue and Parkchester stations.
