645-651 Union Street [Brownstoner]: A rendering has gone up for a new Gowanus hotel designed to look like something built around the time of the Civil War. Matt Abramcyk is the developer of the five-story, 78-key hotel, and Kutnicki Bernstein is designing.
17 John Street [Crowdfund Insider]: Prodigy Network — the real estate crowdfunding platform in charge of the 23-story and 191-unit extended stay hotel at 17 John Street, in the Financial District — has purchased the existing building on-site; construction has already commenced, and the project “has a targeted open date of Summer 2015.”
120 East 125th Street [Curbed]: The four-story former fire-house at 120 East 125th Street currently sits vacant, but the Caribbean Cultural Center African Diaspora Institute has been selected to head plans to convert the building into a community center; construction is set to begin on the 16th, with opening scheduled one year later.
233 Carlton Avenue [Brownstoner]: Carlton Mews Townhouses — located at 233 Carlton Avenue, in Fort Greene — are almost complete; the five, four-story brick-clad buildings are currently receiving cornices, and completion is set for December.
147 Prince Street [Brownstoner]: The existing two-story commercial building at 147 Prince Street, in Downtown Brooklyn, is currently receiving a two-story vertical extension to four stories and nearly 52,700 square feet.
Domino Redevelopment [New York Times]: Demolition is currently underway at Building 16 — the structure that once held the iconic “Domino Sugar” signage — at the Domino Sugar Factory, in Williamsburg, to make way for Two Trees’ redevelopment project; scaffolding has been erected around the structure, and excavation to remove underground utilities will follow.
61-25 186th Street [Queens Courier]: Foundation work is current underway at 61-25 186th Street — in Fresh Meadows — for Mayflower Business Group’s 12-story and 22-unit mixed-use hotel and residential project, totaling 57,586 square feet. Renderings have been posted on-site, and the Chang Hwa Tan-designed building should be completed by January 2016.
26-20 Jackson Avenue [The Court Square Blog]: Scaffolding and sidewalk shedding have been removed at the four-story and nine-unit mixed-use building located at 26-20 Jackson Avenue, in Long Island City; the project was scheduled for completion this summer, and opening now looks imminent.
