SOM’s website has new renderings of the future Baccarat Hotel at 20 West 53rd Street, and they paint a much more detailed picture than the sole image released so far. It appears the project’s sides will feature details rather than blank walls, a pleasant surprise. The building’s sides will be the structure’s most interesting component, as the front of the building is a boring glass wall that stretches from street to roof with only minimal interruption.
It seems certain that the tower will be bland, but with the 1,050 foot Torre Verre rising across the street, that won’t be a problem.
