Over the past few years, new building applications have been filed and construction even started on a residential portion of the five-tower, 3.3-million-square-foot mixed-use Domino Sugar Refinery mega-development in Williamsburg, located immediately north of the Williamsburg Bridge. Now, new details and renderings have been revealed of the lesser-known office component of the project, the New York Post reported. The office portion will be anchored in the existing 11-story Havemeyers & Elder Filter, Pan & Finishing House, also known as the Domino Sugar Refinery, at 292-314 Kent Avenue, which is an individual landmark.
It will be home to 380,000 square feet of boutique office space. Renderings also indicate the structure will be expanded by five glassy stories, with each of those floor plates measuring 15,000 square feet. The Landmarks Preservation Commission approved this portion of the redevelopment in 2014, and work is currently underway on it. Demolition of the other refinery components has finished. The entire project will eventually boast 2,800 residential units, 600,000 square feet of office space, 200,000 square feet of retail and community space, and a six-acre waterfront park. Two Trees Management is developing and Beyer Blinder Belle and SHoP Architects are the architects.
