Permits have been filed for a 46-story residential tower at 30 East 29th Street in Midtown, Manhattan. The site is three blocks away from Madison Square Park. Two blocks away is the 28th Street Subway Station, serviced by the 6 train. Four blocks in the other direction is a homonymous station serviced by the Q and R trains. The Rockefeller Group will be responsible for the development.
According to Crain’s reporting from May of 2017, Rockefeller purchased the three buildings from several owners. Extell Development had owned 30-32 East 29th street, the W Brothers owned 34 East 29th Street, and Michael Aryeh owned 36 East 29th Street.
“We are under contract to purchase multiple parcels and surrounding air rights in the vicinity of Madison Square Park, which would create a large assemblage in what we consider a very desirable neighborhood,” a spokesman for Rockefeller said in a released statement.
The 599-foot tall structure will yield 226,350 square feet of space, with 167,700 square feet dedicated to residential use. 123 apartments will be created, averaging 1,363 square feet apiece, indicating condominiums.
Tenants will have access to an accessory pool, fitness center, squash room, lobby, and storage for 70 bicycles. The 34th floor will be devoted to an amenities lounge with two outdoor terraces, capacity for 20 people each. A duplex unit will occupy floors 39-40 and 41-42.
CetraRuddy will be responsible for the design. They are no strangers to the neighborhood, having a;sp designed the first skyscraper to rise around Madison Square Park in this century, One Madison, which stands 617 feet to its roof. Their other notable work at the moment is 45 Broad Street, for which foundation work is now underway in the Financial District.

Demolition permits for the three structures were filed in September. The design and estimated completion date have not been announced.
