Permits have been filed for a four-story educational facility at 841 5th Avenue in Greenwood Heights, Brooklyn. The lot is on the corner of 36th Street and 5th Avenue. Located one block away is the 36th Street station serviced by D, N and R. The New York City School Construction Authority is responsible for the new development applications.
The new construction project is expected to add 404 elementary school seats to the 15th geographic district in Brooklyn, and is estimated to cost over $4 million.
The proposed building will be 66 feet tall with a total scope of 48,647 square feet. Gabriel Massa, principal of Neptune, N.J.-based Massa Multimedia Architecture, will be responsible for the design. Demolition permits have not yet been filed for the existing structure.
The site of 836-841 5th Avenue filed a Brownfield Cleanup Program application through the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation earlier this year. The BCP is designed is to encourage cleanup of contaminated sites by providing tax incentives for the redevelopment in declining economic neighborhoods.
An estimated completion date has not been announced.

Please pardon me for using your space: With my interest and attention on details. Thank you. (Hello YIMBY)
Right at a busy & dangerous intersection. B63 buses turning into Jackie Gleason Depot, NOT IN SERVICE buses everywhere, AM & PM traffic going to N/D/R station at 4th Avenue. Good luck to all. Get a Crossing Guard when it opens and not a year later.
this is most definitely sunset park, not “greenwood heights”
I hate to burst the bubble of the real estate con artists but this is SUNSET PARK, not Greenwood Heights!
