On the heels of the topping-out of The XI’s second tower, YIMBY attended the official ceremony for the milestone hosted by the project’s architect Bjarke Ingels, offering a first look at the sweeping views from the top of the complex. The 908,250-square-foot development stands next to the High Line in Chelsea and is now the tallest set of buildings in the neighborhood. The first 30-story skyscraper sitting closer to the Hudson River reached the 402-foot-tall roof parapet last year. The shorter 20-story, 300-foot-tall sibling climbed to its pinnacle just a couple weeks ago. HFZ Capital Group is the developer of the project. Omnibuild is in charge of constructing this new icon for New York City.

Views of the surrounding skyline served as a breathtaking backdrop to the event, and the golden hour lighting and dramatic views looking down at the future 20-story Six Senses Hotel Resorts Spas across the courtyard heightened the architectural dialog. The stone facade should most likely start going in place sometime this Spring.

The IAC Building by Frank Gehry, 100 Eleventh Avenue by Jean Nouvel, and 520 West 20th Street by Morris Adjmi Architects are also clearly visible along with Hudson Yards, the Empire State Building, One Vanderbilt, and the rest of the Midtown skyline.

Why is “20 and 30 story”, it is 25 and 34 story. Unless you don’t count commercial, retail, ammenities podium. This happens in case of Brooklyn City Point, like 4 story retail podium for mall and from then 19 and 30 stories rental building and condo.

The views from this buildings are great, but overall design should be much better, twisted pair of what, and if 60 story twisted several times, this how it should be, but in this everything limited with height and even 200 feet is like a skyscraper here. At 402 feet it’s like a “supertall”.
