An updated batch of renderings from developer The Collective offer a new glimpse of 292 North 8th Street, a forthcoming student housing development in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Designed by The Collective and architects Stonehill Taylor, the building will top out at 11 stories and comprise approximately 100,000 square feet.
Residents will have access to a communal lounge, classrooms, ground-floor dining spaces, an outdoor courtyard, and a fitness center. According to a release from the developer, the general public will also be welcome to take advantage of both the space and its programs. Specific programming to be made available for the public has not yet been publicized.
Interior spaces are designed by The Collective and One Union Studio.
“In keeping with The Collective’s mission of fostering cultural exchange, learning, and human connection, we believe that North 8th will be the first project of its kind for New York City,” said Reza Merchant, The Collective’s founder and CEO. “It will bring community of all ages together in one holistic environment, designed to promote an inter-generational exchange of knowledge through shared amenities and dynamic programming.”
According to The Collective, an international development firm, estimated construction costs hover around $150 million. The Collective’s expanding network of co-living spaces include 555 Broadway and 1215 Fulton Street, both located in Brooklyn.
