Façade work is getting closer to completion on 145 West 47th Street, a 48-story RIU Hotel in Times Square. Designed by Berg + Moss Architects and developed by Tribeach Holdings, the 353,000-square-foot edifice is located between Sixth and Seventh Avenues and will yield a total of 630 guest rooms.
Recent photos from the streets below and from the pedestrian plazas of Times Square show the uniform green-colored envelope reaching the upper hotel floors. Sidewalk scaffolding, metal fencing, and construction barriers still surround West 47th Street and the future main entrance to the hotel.

The mechanical extension placed below the roof parapet is nearly enclosed in its final exterior, which is made with horizontal metal grilles that are steadily going over the wrap-around yellow membrane layer.

Corner metal frame studs on the back northern wall will soon be covered. This is partly where the exterior hoist was once placed, but has been fully disassembled.

145 West 47th Street’s podium is reportedly planned to house a multi-story parking garage and a restaurant that will likely occupy the level just below the setback. Hotel rooms will start on the seventh floor, with about 17 rooms per story. The property is part of a large group of hotels that are continuing to be built around Times Square with the faith that the famous Midtown district will recover and thrive once again in the coming years.
The completion date for 145 West 47th Street had been pushed back a number of times, but YIMBY predicts the RIU Hotel will be finished sometime by the end of this year.

The city is spending BILLIONS to house these people in these hotels instead of building permanent housing.
It’s nice looking however it’s just poor timing .
Tourism is way down. It msybe be better to sell each room in a new way as a condo room.
The tourism should come back in a few months.
