Full demolition permits have been filed for 150 East 91st Street on the Upper East Side of Manhattan. Located between Lexington and Third Avenues, the 5,033-square-foot site was acquired by Redeemer Presbyterian Church last year for $29.5 million.
According to the filing, the Carnegie Hill property currently houses a six-story residential building with 21,342 square feet and 24 units. The 65-foot-tall structure was built in 1910 and has 50 feet of street frontage.
No new construction permits have been filed yet, but it is likely a ground-up development will have mixed-use components including affordable housing, community facility space, and a worship auditorium and gathering spaces for the Redeemer Presbyterian Church.
150 East 91st Street is five blocks south from 96th Street subway station, serviced by the 6 train.
Plan B Engineering is listed as the applicant of record.

Whatever they built as-of-right with more than double the sq. ft. Hopefully its housing component has more than 24 apartments so the neighborhood doesn’t lose housing.
It is a shame that a beautiful building, in such apparently good shape will be destroyed, losing 24 units of what was probably rent-regulated housing. It will no doubt be replaced with mostly market rate luxury housing and far fewer affordable units. It’s a lose-lose.
