The first rendering has been revealed for 1330 East 17th Street, a seven-story residential building in Midwood, Brooklyn. Designed by local architect Grigori Zinkevitch and developed by Lati Properties, the wedge-shaped building will yield 45 rental apartments and a sub-grade parking garage.
The rendering illustrates a sleek black-and-white-clad volume with glass-enclosed balconies and a jewel box lobby, a dramatic departure from the low-rise, red-brick structures surrounding the property. The renderings also include what appears to be a Starbucks logo in a retail space not included in permits filed with the Department of Buildings in 2017.
Progress has been slow since the time of filing, and Lati Properties has not announced an anticipated date of completion.

Who doesn’t love glass enclosed balcony storage?

Probably just something the artist put in the rendering. A retail space in that location is possible as there are a few small shops along East 17th Street. But Starbucks? No way in that neighborhood.

Why the balconys. Just why?
It’s like a spare closet, which they will need for the 15 immigrants that will pile into each of these apartments.
Balconies are common in the area as it allows for outdoor dining during Sukkot.
