Construction is nearing topping out on Two Manhattan West, a 58-story commercial skyscraper in Midtown West. Designed by Skidmore Owings & Merrill and developed by Brookfield, the 935-foot-tall tower will yield two million square feet of office space directly to the south of its 996-foot-high fraternal twin, One Manhattan West. AECOM Tishman is the general contractor for the project, which is located at the corner of West 31st Street and Ninth Avenue. Brookfield is aiming for LEED Gold certification.
The superstructure has ascended steadily since our last update in July, when the tower had just surpassed the halfway mark. Recent photographs below show the pair of construction cranes eclipsing the flat roof parapet of One Manhattan West as it continues to keep up with the constant pace of steel assembly on the floors below. The wrap-around safety cocoon netting is quickly climbing further up into the sky, while metal decking is being laid over each floor plate between the perimeter columns and inner core steel columns and beams. Meanwhile, the reflective glass curtain wall is following close behind, closing up the rounded corners and tapering northern elevation. The fireproofing process above the floor-to-ceiling glass and safety cocoon is more than halfway up the building.
The view below looks west and shows the building profile of Two Manhattan West as it slopes away from One Manhattan West.
The exterior mechanical hoist on the eastern side of the tower is also following the pace of progress.
Photos from afar at night show the crown of One Manhattan West fully illuminated with a tight array of vertical blue LED strips. We can expect the same to be seen with Two Manhattan West in the near future.
The overall Manhattan West complex comprises seven million square feet spread over five separate buildings. Two Manhattan West is the last component to be finished, as Skidmore, Owings & Merrill’s Pendry Hotel at Four Manhattan West is now in operation as one of New York City’s newest hotels. The nearest subways are the A, C, and E trains to the east underneath Pennsylvania Station and the 7 train to the west at Hudson Yards.
YIMBY last reported that Two Manhattan West is slated for completion next summer, as stated on the on-site construction boards.

Amazing light at night, crowded of towers so great into views on skyline. How to build, and how to beautiful design skyscrapers; check them: Thanks to Michael Young.
Some of the ugliest buildings in NYC.
That view of 30 and 10 Hudson Yards from the fourth photo is always disturbing the way they both appear to be tilting.
Right. I’m not a fan of buildings that appear to tilt, lean, or appear top-heavy, either.
Midtown continues to move south and west.
I sure hope the lighting on top of the building stays subtle. I saw them testing different lighting options and it looked more like Vegas than NYC.
One & Two Manhattan West are elegant additions to the new Midtown West skyline. Inspired engineering & construction (particularly One MW). Though often overshadowed by coverage of Hudson Yards, these two towers more than hold their own. Their graceful curves are a nice juxtaposition to the harder, sharper edges of the HY towers. In all, they contribute to the dramatic composition of recent area buildings. Not loving the lighting on the crown, is it really needed?
The lobby at One Manhattan West is probably the most beautiful in the city. Simply stunning. Very very good job here.
These buildings look great in photos, and even better in person. Sleek and contextual. The tenants will have phenomenal views through floor-to-ceiling windows and no columns.
I agree with the comment above regarding the lobby. Really gorgeous. A first-rate development that complements Hudson Yards beautifully. Well done!
The reflection in the day light of all the buildings surrounding the two are incredible, fantastic pictures…
I almost like Manhattan West more than Hudson Yards. I love how elegant One and Two look together.
Blah and Blah 2 & where is #2 WTC?
There was an article very recently about it.
