Construction is complete on Eastlight, a 34-story residential tower at 200 East 34th Street in Kips Bay. Designed by CetraRuddy Architecture and developed by 200 East 34th LLC, the 388-foot-tall structure yields 135,094 square feet with 144 condominium units in studio to two-bedroom layouts and 2,992 square feet of commercial space on the lower levels. Noble Construction Group was the general contractor for the property, which is located at the southeastern corner of Third Avenue and East 34th Street.

Exterior work has concluded since our last update in June 2022 and all of the scaffolding has been dismantled. Some minor finishing touches are still ongoing at the base of the ground floor and on the new sidewalk surrounding the property, but should conclude shortly.

The main entrance is located at the northeastern corner of the building underneath a dark rectangular canopy. The retail frontage lines the rest of the first floor, mostly along Third Avenue.

All of the glass railings are in place around the lower setbacks atop the multistory podium, and on the terraces surrounding the multifaceted crown. The largely blank eastern façade features a grid pattern composed of subtly protruding panels.

Eastlight arrives among a wave of new residential construction projects around Kips Bay and the adjacent neighborhood of Murray Hill, including 509 Third Avenue, which stands directly across East 34th Street from the property.

Eastlight’s residences average 917 square feet apiece. Amenities are located on the 34th floor and include a fitness center and private training studio, a residential lounge, a dining room, a game room, and a rooftop terrace with a dining and barbecue setup. Residents on the upper levels will have panoramic views of the Midtown and Lower Manhattan skylines, as well as vistas of the East River, Brooklyn, and Queens.

The nearest subway from Eastlight is the 6 train at the 33rd Street station to the west along Park Avenue South, providing quick access to Grand Central Station and the 4, 5, 7, Shuttle, and Metro-North rail lines.

  1. Looks like a big stack of cheap.

Looking in from the street level I will see beautiful neighborhood on rows of buildings located in orderly lined, and multi-level on top clearly visible of the dried paint. Glass facade which is spread over a surface the structure’s coloring blended perfectly with its surroundings, on my observing again and again: Thanks to Michael Young.

  3. It looks alright.

  4. A decent building in an area of banal towers. Apartments over 900 feet.

  5. I give it few points for addressing the large blank wall by adding “grid” panels, instead of leaving it a huge stucco wall, unlike most of these new towers, ie. “Dubai on the Hudson”.

Despite what was torn down was better looking, this isn’t a bad design. Surprisingly, the east side elevator wall is the most attractive side of the building as a relief from the relentless glass wall grid.

  7. Isn’t the 33rd St. station on the Lexington line located on Park Avenue not Lexington

  8. The building is not offensive.
