Finback Brewery has announced the opening of its latest taproom, Finback LIC, in Sven, a residential skyscraper at 29-37 41st Avenue in Long Island City. With existing locations in Glendale and Gowanus, Brooklyn, the 3,800-square-foot LIC taproom marks the Queens-based brewery’s third venture.
Designed by co-founder Basil Lee, the taproom emphasizes creativity and local artistry, showcasing local ingredients and features a mural by artist Viscaya Wagner. The 99-person capacity taproom will be open throughout the week, offering a variety of beverages and snacks.
Sven Tower was developed by the Durst Organization and completed construction in 2021. It is centrally located in Long Island City, and is steps from the Queens Plaza and Queensboro Plaza stations, which service the E, F, M, R, N, W, and 7 trains.

Taproom? Please! Call it for what it is: a saloon. A saloon in your own building no less. Oh well, to each his own. At least it cuts down on drunk driving, Except for within the building’s self-service elevators of course. I do hope they’ll be equipped with barf-bags. But I guess the developers could run with the concept and advertise the buolding as being the vanguard of “lush luxury”. However the ””taproom” itself looks to have all the ambiance of a high school cafeteria. Sort of like the building itself. I myself am waiting for an opium den to finally open up in my own building. Cheers!
Imagine that. People actually have a beer in NYC and you’re upset. 🙄
Perfect location for a toproom, not the same as a saloon. Those who travel outside of the five boroughs know that craft micro breweries and taprooms are booming throughout the US. In fact, I’m shocked at how weak the micro brew scene is here in NYC.
