The New York City Housing Authority and its partners have reached a significant milestone by closing on a $635.6 million PACT project aimed at renovating 87 buildings in East Brooklyn. This comprehensive initiative will benefit nearly 3,500 residents, providing them with upgraded apartments, public spaces, grounds, and building infrastructure.
The chosen PACT partner team, consisting of BRP Companies, Fairstead, and Urbane, will oversee the extensive rehabilitation, day-to-day property management, and coordination of social services for all buildings in the Reid Apartments and Park Rock Consolidated bundles. Equity capital will be provided by Vistria Housing Fund, LP.
The renovation scope takes into account resident preferences and prioritizes the 20-year capital needs of the properties impacted. It aims to create healthier and more efficient buildings for residents while addressing longstanding issues.
The project has garnered support from various tenant association presidents, who anticipate improvements in security, repairs, and relationships with the new management company. The PACT initiative aims to transform these developments into safer and more vibrant communities.

Let’s hope NYCHA will adequately manage the contractors and enforce contracts so that the money isn’t wasted, requiring more money to fix the usual corruption.
