Petrocelli Surgical Pavilion Completes Construction At North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset, Long Island

Skansa has announced the completion of the Petrocelli Surgical Pavilion at North Shore University Hospital, located at 300 Community Drive in Manhasset, Long Island. The $560 million structure spans 288,000 square feet and will enhance the hospital’s programs in cardiac care, neurosurgery, and organ transplantation.

The tower, constructed by Skanska and made possible by a donation from Attilio and Beverly Petrocelli, will feature 18 operating rooms and 132 intensive care rooms. Skanska utilized cutting-edge technologies including drones and 3D modeling throughout the project’s design and construction.

Of the 18 operating rooms, three rooms will be used in a hybrid context, combining traditional surgical spaces with image-guided interventional suites. The addition of these hybrid rooms serves as a notable upgrade to North Shore University Hospital’s critical care capabilities. The pavilion will serve as the new home for the Sandra Atlas Bass Heart Hospital and will include a concierge entrance for cardiac patients.

Its transplant services were started to fill a glaring need and help Long Island and Queens residents get care close to home. But along the way, the Northwell Health Transplant Institute attracted top talent and has grown in both size and reputation into a destination in its own right. The Petrocelli Surgical Pavilion will only enhance what we can offer.”
