Construction is nearing completion on 550 Tenth Avenue, a 520-foot-tall residential skyscraper in Hell’s Kitchen. Designed by Handel Architects and developed by Gotham Organization and Goldman Sachs Asset Management JV, the 47-story structure will span 430,000 square feet and yield 453 rental units, with 137 reserved for affordable housing, as well as 9,000 square feet of lower-level retail space, over 20,000 square feet of amenities, and 26,764 square feet of administrative office space for Covenant House. GO Covenant LLC is the owner of the property, which is located along Tenth Avenue between West 40th and 41st Streets.
Nearly all of the bronze-hued paneling and floor-to-ceiling windows have filled in the upper levels of the reinforced concrete superstructure since our last update in late December, when the top levels were still exposed. The tower crane has been fully disassembled and the only sections awaiting completion are the ground floor, which remains obscured behind the wraparound sidewalk shed, and the gap in the façade where the hoist remains attached to the western elevation.

550 Tenth Avenue’s multi-story podium will house the majority of the social, leisure, and health and fitness amenities. There will also be an upper-level lounge with an adjacent outdoor sky deck where the final building setback is located.

The closest subways from the property are the A, C, and E trains at the 42nd Street-Port Authority Bus Terminal station, which offers an underground transfer to the 42nd Street-Times Square station servicing the 1, 2, 3, 7, N, Q, R, W, and Shuttle train to Grand Central station. Also nearby is the local 7 train at the 34th Street-Hudson Yards station to the south.
550 Tenth Avenue is anticipated to be completed in June 2025, as noted on site.

Handel’s similarly designed 312 W 43rd St is a better design. This one is a bit too flat and monolithic.
And it looks like the bronze-hued paneling is already getting rain-stained. What will it look like in 10 years?
Let’s hope we’re around in 10 years to see just how rain-stained it’s become.
Tacked onto the last paragraph could be a reminder that this building has had provisions and easements built into the foundation and basement for a likely eventual infill subway station for the (7) train. Of course it will come at double or triple the cost it would have been had it just been built in the first place with the rest of the extension. Cuz MTA is awesome at planning.
