The Turtle Bay outpost of AKA’s condo-style extended-stay residences is getting a revamp, and the company sent along renderings of the new interiors for the 21-story tower at 234 East 46th Street.

There will be 95 furnished one-bedroom residences, ranging from 562 square feet to 663 square feet. Designed by Asfour-Guzy Architects, the renovated units will feature wide-plank white-oak flooring, private balconies, and open kitchens with gray Celador countertops. The bathrooms will have Carrara marble, glass showers and Grohe fixtures.

The company also plans to release several units as condos this summer. PR people couldn’t confirm how the number of condos, but they did reveal that asking prices will start at $1,200,000.

And the luxury property will get a host of upgraded amenities, including a new gym, a rooftop lounge inspired by a living room, a business center and 24-hour concierge. The lobby will even have a “multi-level landscaped Zen garden with fire pits,” according to the press release. The building is expected to re-open for reservations on September 1, 2015.

Now that Lexington Avenue has been rezoned just north of Grand Central, this part of Midtown East will only grow more vibrant. The UN already draws plenty of foreign travelers, and huge office towers like the 63-story One Vanderbilt will attract even more out-of-town businessmen to the area, clamoring for accommodations like AKA’s. There are several big residential developments planned in the vicinity as well, most notably the 50-story condo tower at 131-141 East 47th Street.
