Gotham West has risen very quickly, and is now approaching its final height. The project has risen roughly twenty floors in two months, so topping-out should occur within a week or two. The 31-story project is a welcome addition to a neighborhood still mostly barren of life. The project’s next-door neighbor is a gas station, which is a remarkable thing for Manhattan. Still, it will take significantly more development to turn the western edge of Midtown into a neighborhood that’s actually desirable.
