Nearly a year ago, YIMBY reported on applications for a 12-story, 109-unit mixed-use building at 15 Lafayette Avenue, in Fort Greene/Downtown Brooklyn, and now a ground-breaking ceremony has been held to kick off construction at the site. According to Brownstoner, 40% of the apartments will be let at below-market rates, and 21,400 square feet of cultural community space will be located in the base, with The Center for Fiction and Mark Morris Dance Group both taking space.

The 120,000 square-foot building will also feature 2,800 square feet of ground-floor retail space. Jonathan Rose Companies is developing, while Dattner Architects is designing, and completion is expected in 2016.
