Silverstein’s 30 Park Place is moving upwards into the skyline, and the latest construction photos come with the first new rendering of the project in years, via The New York Times. The Four Seasons Hotel and Residences will soon reach 937 feet and 67 stories above street level, and the project’s architect is Robert A.M. Stern.
Since last month’s update, construction has continued at a swift pace, and the development has been rising at the rate of two stories per week; 30 Park Place is about to reach the transition point between the hotel component and actual residences, which begin on the building’s 24th floor.
While the development’s impact from street level is clear, it will also obstruct western views from The Woolworth Building, which has dominated the block for over a century; a reader sent in photos from the Woolworth’s 27th floor, which offers an impressive vantage point over the future Four Seasons.
30 Park Place will soon stand 150 feet taller than its eastern neighbor, and the scale of Stern’s addition to the Downtown skyline will soon become apparent — though it will still be far shorter than the towers of the new World Trade Center.
Completion of the 179-room and 159-unit mixed-use development is expected in 2016.
