New York City-based architecture firm Beyer Blinder Belle has returned to the city’s Landmarks Preservation Commission with revised proposals to construct a new high-rise development within Brooklyn’s Borough Hall Skyscraper Historic District. The building was formerly referred to as 192 Montague Street, but has been presented to the commission on the second try as 200 Montague Street.
Permits have been filed for a 20-story mixed-use building at 192 Montague Street in Brooklyn Heights, Brooklyn. Located between Clinton Street and Borough Hall in the Borough Hall Skyscraper Historic District, the development went before the Landmark Preservation Commission last month as reported by YIMBY. Both Brooklyn Borough Hall and Columbus Park Plaza are both just steps away. Also conveniently located is a major transit hub, with access to the 2, 3, 4, 5, and R subway trains. The Cayre Group is listed as the owner behind the applications.
The existing four-story building at 200 Montague Street, aka 192 Montague Street, will make way for a new 20-story Beyer Blinder Belle-designed structure. The 10,000-square foot site sits directly adjacent to 75 Livingston Street, aka 16 Court Street. Because the project is among the Borough Hall Skyscraper Historic District in Brooklyn Heights, plans for the new development will have to be approved by the Landmark Preservation Commission.
