Home design company Restoration Hardware is trying to expand, with a hotel under development at 55 Gansevoort Street in the Meatpacking District. That plan, however, needs some work as the Landmarks Preservation Commission did not grant a certificate of appropriateness on Tuesday.
One of the largest new office projects in the Meatpacking District is finally taking shape. Rockpoint Group is knitting together historic warehouse buildings and new steel and glass at 412 West 15th Street, and photographer Tectonic has the latest on the site between Ninth and Tenth avenues.

While the far West Side has its fair share of mega-projects, the scale of development in lower West Chelsea and the Meatpacking District is generally more subdued. The one major exception to that rule is at 76 11th Avenue, where a development team led by HFZ has an assemblage with 800,000 square feet of air rights, with plans by Bjarke Ingels Group previously revealed by YIMBY last year. Big changes are coming to the Meatpacking District. On Tuesday, the Landmarks Preservation Commission, after three sessions, approved redevelopment of the block ranging from 46 to 74 Gansevoort Street. That’s between Greenwich Street and Washington Street, in the Gansevoort Market Historic District.
