550 Madison Avenue’s Landscaped Public Plaza Nears Completion in Midtown East, Manhattan

Work is nearing completion on the new public plaza adjacent to 550 Madison Avenue, a landmarked 37-story commercial skyscraper in Midtown East. Developed by The Olayan Group and RXR Realty, the 684-foot-tall postmodern building is undergoing a 21,000-square-foot indoor-outdoor renovation, which includes a triple-height steel-framed glass canopy designed by Snøhetta and a revamped lobby designed by Gensler. AECOM Tishman is serving as the general contractor for the project, which is located between East 55th and 56th Streets and is aiming for LEED Platinum and WELL Gold certifications.

115 East 55th Street Completes Construction in Midtown East, Manhattan

Construction is complete on 115 East 55th Street, an 18-story residential building in Midtown East. Designed by SLCE Architects for Zeckendorf Development, the 185-foot-tall structure yields 71,961 square feet and 58 units. CM & Associates Construction Management served as the general contractor for the Midtown property, which is located on a relatively small plot between Lexington and Park Avenues, directly to the east of Norman Foster‘s 425 Park Avenue.

Demolition Underway at 405 Park Avenue in Midtown East, Manhattan

Demolition work is ramping up at 405 Park Avenue, the site of a potential skyscraper in Midtown East, Manhattan. Original plans from several years ago called for a renovation that would have added several floors to the existing 17-story structure, but full demolition permits were filed in January 2021. MRP Realty is the owner and Titan Industrial SVC Corp. is serving as the demolition contractor for the property, which is located at the corner of Park Avenue and East 54th Street.

Construction Breaks Ground at 126 East 57th Street in Midtown East, Manhattan

Excavation has begun at 126 East 57th Street, site of a 28-story residential tower on Billionaires’ Row in Midtown East, Manhattan. Designed by ODA Architecture and developed by MRR Development, the 346-foot-tall structure will yield 208,000 square feet with 147 condominium units spread across 170,000 square feet, as well as lower-level commercial space. WSP USA is the engineer, Urban Atelier Group is the construction manager, and Plaza Buildings is the general contractor of the property, which is located at the corner of East 57th Street and Lexington Avenue.

Permits Filed for 40-Story Office Skyscraper at 415 Madison Avenue in Midtown East, Manhattan

Permits have been filed for a 40-story office tower at 415 Madison Avenue in Midtown East, Manhattan. Located at the intersection of East 48th Street and Madison Avenue, the lot is within walking distance of the Grand Central subway station, serviced by the 4, 5, 6, and 7 trains. Albert Sanfilippo of Rudin Management is listed as the owner behind the applications which sought special permits through ULURP for the overbuilt floor area for air rights from the landmarked St. Bartholomew’s Church along Park Avenue.
