Five-Story, 62-Unit Mixed-Use Project Approved at 136 Westmoreland Avenue, White Plains

The White Plains Common Council has approved plans for a five-story, 62-unit mixed-use building at 136-158 Westmoreland Avenue, just south of downtown White Plains, in Westchester County. The project, dubbed Westmoreland Lofts, will measure 58,000 square feet, Westfair reported. It will include a 97-car parking garage, 2,700 square feet of light manufacturing space and 1,600 square feet of retail space on the ground floor for a microbrewery. The apartments above will be rentals, ranging from studios to two-bedrooms.


200 Hamilton Avenue

Multi-Building, 600-Unit Mixed-Use Project Proposed at 200 Hamilton Avenue, White Plains

Post Chester, N.Y.-based Street-Works Development is proposing a multi-building, 895,000-square-foot mixed-use project at 200 Hamilton Avenue, in downtown White Plains, in Westchester County. The project would include 600 residential units across 500,000 square feet of space, with 10 percent, or 60 units, designated as affordable. There would also be 95,000 square feet of retail, two public green spaces, and a 720-car parking garage, Westfair reported. The city’s Common Council must approve the project, which requires a zoning change. The site, bound by Baker and Hamilton avenues, Cottage Place, and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, is occupied by the two-story White Plains Mall, a multi-tenant commercial-retail property.


440 Hamilton Avenue

245-Unit Residential Conversion Planned for 12-Story, 350,000-Square-Foot Office Building, 440 Hamilton Avenue, White Plains

Long Island-based American Equity Partners is preparing to file applications to convert the 12-story, 350,000-square-foot office building at 440 Hamilton Avenue, located on the corner of North Broadway in downtown White Plains, into 245 rental apartments. Twenty-five of the units, roughly 10 percent of the total, will be designated as affordable. The project includes a redesigned façade and the addition of a 13th-floor penthouse, Westfair reported. A ground-floor retail unit is also planned, and it’s possible up to two floors of office space could remain, depending on demand. White Plains-based Papp Architects is designing the conversion. The project will go before the city’s Zoning Board of Appeals.

Reveal for Six-Story, 77-Unit Residential Building Proposed at 1 Dekalb Avenue, White Plains

Renderings have been revealed of the six-story, 77-unit residential building proposed at 1 Dekalb Avenue, located on the corner of Maple Avenue in White Plains. The project was initially proposed to the city back in September and the White Plains Common Council is expected to vote on it by the end of the year, the Journal News reported. The units would be rental apartments and the new building would include a 103-car underground parking garage.


52 North Broadway

Residential Redevelopment Proposed at Former Good Counsel High School Campus, 52 North Broadway, White Plains

WB Development NB LLC has proposed to redevelop the 16-acre former Academy of Our Lady of Good Counsel High School campus located at 52 North Broadway, just north of downtown White Plains, in Westchester County. The proposals calls for two 10-story residential buildings with 400 rental apartments between them, a 125-bed assisted living facility, and a four-story, 66-unit dormitory geared toward graduate students at the neighboring Elisabeth Haub School of Law at Pace University, Westfair reported. Ten percent of the rentals would be designated as affordable. Roughly 2.7 acres would be preserved as green space and two existing buildings would be preserved. The anonymous LLC is comprised of multiple developers and investors, including Midtown South-based George Comfort & Sons Inc. Perkins Eastman is behind the architecture. The site needs to be rezoned in order for the project to be built. Applications were filed with the city’s Common Council in July.
