Renderings Revealed for World’s Highest Residential Club in Central Park Tower

Extell has revealed renderings of the Central Park Tower’s 100th floor residential club. Perched over 1,000 feet above Billionaires’ Row, this will be the highest residential lounge in the world. The club will span 8,300 square feet and include a private ballroom, a dining room, a bar, a full-service kitchen, and a wine and cigar lounge. The 1,550-foot-tall skyscraper, which is also addressed 217 West 57th Street, is designed by Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill and will contain 179 residences, on which Extell is expecting a $4 billion sellout. The 100th floor club is designed by Rottet Studio, which also designed the residential interiors.

Central Park Tower’s Glass Curtain Wall Nears Completion in Midtown

Taking the number-one spot in our annual construction countdown is the 1,550-foot-tall Central Park Tower, aka 217 West 57th Street, the tallest building by roof level in New York City and the entire western hemisphere, as well as the tallest residential building in the world. Work on the glass curtain wall is approaching the parapet of the slender reinforced concrete superstructure, which rises 99 stories above 57th Street, aka Billionaires’ Row. The project is designed by Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill and developed by Extell, which is expecting a $4 billion sellout on the tower’s 179 residences. A 320,000-square-foot Nordstrom flagship occupies the base of the building.

Nordstrom’s Manhattan Flagship Store Officially Opens for Business in Central Park Tower

The seven-story Nordstrom flagship at the base of Central Park Tower, aka 217 West 57th Street, is finally open for business. Thursday, October 24 marked the official opening of the massive 320,000-square-foot store, its largest in New York. The main doors are located along West 57th Street underneath the wavy, transparent glass curtain wall. James Carpenter Design Associates is the designer for the store, collaborating with Nordstrom’s inhouse design team to work with architects, CallisonRTKL. Extell is the developer of the 1,550-foot-high Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill-designed supertall. This is the first portion of the property that is finished.

111 West 57th Street’s Crowning Steel Officially Reaches 1,428-Foot Rooftop Parapet in Midtown Manhattan

This past September saw concrete reach the rooftop of Extell‘s record-setting Central Park Tower at 217 West 57th Street, and shortly thereafter One Vanderbilt‘s spire quickly come together at the top of SL Green‘s new commercial jewel. October has also commenced with a bang, and last week, workers installed the first steel for the crowning level of SHoP Architects‘ 111 West 57th Street, reaching the parapet 1,428 feet above the streets below. That makes the building the second-tallest in New York City by its parapet, ranking below the 1,550-foot Central Park Tower, and above the 1,396-foot 432 Park Avenue. Work has indeed reached the last section of the crown, but is important to note that the supertall has not officially topped out yet.

Construction workers have reached top of the reinforced concrete structure, while work on the reflective glass curtain wall is closing in on the upper floors of what is now the tallest residential building in New York and the highest roof in the Western Hemisphere. The 1,550-foot tall reinforced concrete skyscraper is designed by Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill and developed by Extell, which is expecting a $4 billion sellout. The Nordstrom retail component is getting ready for its debut next month.
