Construction for the Hilton Grand Vacation Hotel at 12 East 48th Street is making substantial headway, as the facade and window systems begin to take shape. The 31-story hotel is being designed by Handel Architects and will eventually contain 161 rooms, an outdoor terrace, and ground floor retail.

Back in 2014, Hidrock Realty, developer of the new Hilton hotel, acquired a collection of commercial buildings at 12-14 East 48th Street and 13 East 47th Street for $47 million. As previously reported by YIMBY, DOB filings initially revealed plans to construct a residential tower.

Today, the development arrives as a timeshare hotel property operated by Hilton.

Given the current rate of progress, the hotel should open to the public by next year.

  1. Please pardon me for using your space: Its facade pass through my whole body because metal, there is not complicated to separate from neighborhood. (Thanks to JC_Heights)

  2. ^ What ?

  3. What an ugly building. 🙁 Newer or bigger doesn’t automatically mean better.

  4. While not my taste in architecture it’s better than some on the block, especially considering the odd shaped space they had to work with.
