Permits have been filed for a seven-story mixed-use building at 267 West 126th Street in Harlem, Manhattan. Located between Adam Clayton Powell Jr Boulevard and Frederick Douglass Boulevard, the interior lot is one block east of the 125th Street subway station, serviced by the A, B, C, and D trains. New York City’s Housing Preservation and Development agency is listed as the owner behind the applications.
After topping-out last year above Morningside Heights, the Vandewater has now launched sales of its 183 condominiums. Located at 543 West 122nd Street, the 33-story residential building stands 391 feet tall, with a total scope of over 300,000 square feet. It is designed by Incorporated Architecture & Design, while SLCE Architects is the executive architect. Savanna is the project’s developer, while Halstead Property Development Marketing is handling sales.
Full demolition permits have been filed for the three-story building at 45 East 126th Street, in Harlem, along with adjacent lots 1975 and 1981 Madison Avenue. Owned by Metropolitan Community United Methodist Church, the three buildings were built at separate times, but some of the construction dates back to 1905 according to NYC Planning records. The Metropolitan Community United Methodist Church was founded in 1942 yet the edifice it currently occupies was built from 1869-71, for St. James Methodist Episcopal Church of Harlem. The Neo-Gothic building features a noble bell tower and vaulted interior.
Standing north of Columbia University at 543 West 122nd Street, behind the Jewish Theological Seminary, is the new residential tower dubbed “Vandewater”. Located in Morningside Heights, which was originally called Vandewater Heights, the new 385-foot-tall building will come with over 300,000 square feet of space, and 183 condominiums spread over 33 floors. It is also three blocks south of St. Nicholas Park, and four blocks north of Morningside Park. Jianhui Hu of Columbia International is listed as behind the applications.
