Lord Foster’s winning entry into the design competition for 425 Park Avenue’s height has been revealed, and according to the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat it’s a staggering 855 feet. That’s taller than the MetLife Building and roughly 200 feet shorter than the Chrysler, which will be enough to make the building quite visible. The ‘fins’ jutting from the building’s roof extend down the building’s eastern side, almost looking like a spine.
Though 855 feet is massive–5 feet taller than the GE Tower at Rockefeller Center–the site will still be dwarfed by 432 Park Avenue, which will be over 500 feet taller. 425 Park Avenue is expected to be complete in 2017.
