In late November, Related Companies filed applications for a four-story, 21-unit residential building at 19-14 20th Avenue, in the Ditmars section of Astoria. Now the developer has filed applications for a second building: a four-story, 32-unit residential structure, at 18-12 20th Avenue. All 53 of the new residential units will rent at below-market rates to veterans, with 20 percent set aside for homeless soldiers. Gran Kriegel Associates will be responsible for the architecture. Two single-story parking garages will have to be demolished for the new structures. Both buildings will be part of Related’s revamp of the seven-building, 444-unit Marine Terrace residential complex, which will get comprehensive renovation of its own.

  1. I seriously read this article and information, unsurprisingly I known about filed applications.

Related Companies is socially responsible developer who has elected for a number of reasons, one of them being it’s good for business, to make all their housing stock smokefree (with the exception of rent-regulated or rent-stablizied housing units which they are prohibiting from doing unless the lessee voluntarily agrees to a change in the lease.

Each time Related Companies adds to their housing portfolio it’s a win for the health and safety of its residents.

This week North Shore Towers in Floral Park, Queens, NY a 1,844 market rate co-op, announced that their entire property will be a smokefree property, the largest smokefree co-op in NYC and most likely the USA.

Another example of the growing desire/demand to want to live in a smokefree residence.
