Permits have been filed for a new eight-story residential building at 91-01 Whitney Avenue, in Flushing, Queens. The site is two blocks away from the 90th Street-Elmhurst Avenue subway station, serviced by the 7 train. The surrounding neighborhood is predominantly residential to the south, with a couple dozen blocks of commercial space to the east, along Roosevelt Avenue and 37th Avenue.
The 75-foot tall structure will yield a total 15,000 square feet for residential use. With 22 units, each will have an average size of 681 feet, suggesting rentals. Tenants will have a lobby, 12 parking spaces, and a laundry room. Indetail Architecture and Engineering will be responsible for the design.
The site used to contain a three-story residential building, for which demolition permits were filed in April 2016. The project is being developed by an anonymous LLC.
