Permits have been filed for a new four-story mixed-use building at 555 West 22nd Street, in Chelsea. Related Companies is responsible for the project. Last time YIMBY reported on this site, the developer was in the process of acquiring 555 West 22nd Street, as well as 548 and 552 West 23rd Street. This permit only specifies for the lot on 22nd street, so the predicted 22-story building might still be in the works.
The 74-foot tall structure will yield a total 109,950 square feet, with 87,550 square feet for residential use, and 5,880 square feet for commercial use. The 39 planned residences will average 2,245 square feet apiece, indicating large condominiums.
Tenants will have access to a plethora of amenities, including a pool in the cellar with lockers, bicycle storage, and a dog spa. The first floor will have lobbies for guests and service access, a lounge room, event and game center, business center, and gym area. Private gallery space will be on floors two through four, sharing space with 13 of the probable condos.
SLCE Architects is responsible for the design.
Demolition permits were filed in February of this year, so construction could begin soon. An estimated completion date has not been announced.
