The Turkevi Center has topped out at 821 First Avenue in the Midtown East neighborhood of Turtle Bay. Work on the curving, sloped crown of the 563-foot-tall consulate for the Republic of Turkey is currently underway. Perkins Eastman is the designer of the 35-story mixed-use skyscraper, which will yield about 102,000 square feet of commercial space on the first 15 floors and house 20 apartments for residents and staff starting on the 20th floor.

Photos from the East River show the reinforced concrete structure reaching the roof parapet and making a presence along the waterfront. There will be an underground auditorium and cellar parking for 20 vehicles, offices, a prayer room, passport and visa branch offices, and outdoor terraces on the seventh, 11th, and 16th floors.

A total of 40,195 square feet will be allocated to the building’s 20 units. Each will average around 2,045 square feet and provide uninterrupted views of the United Nations, the East River, and the rising sun. Two apartments on the upper floors are set to become duplexes. They will sit underneath the uniquely shaped crown, the skyscraper’s distinguishing feature. Amenities will include a residential fitness center and a shared terrace space on the 20th floor.

The only other structure within the vicinity of the Turkey Center that features curved exterior lines is the sweeping roof line of the United Nations auditorium, an interesting link between the two diplomatic facilities.

Completion of the Turkevi Center is expected sometime next year.

  1. I’m ready to get to its progress, it’s like a breath of fresh construction. You are in established relationship on progressed and designed, made it to daylight but night not appear. I immediately want to admire, that’s beautiful tall structure. You taking in the impressive moment and feel amazing running through ideas from developer, I think on that way. Prominent things seem to be getting better with time, so I still save your views into my brain. If I don’t forget it. (Thanks to Michael Young)

Oh thank goodness, it’s been a week since we’ve seen another new silver-glass box.

They have to stop with all socialist traitors like BillBlasio, who will be tried for his antiamerican communist treason and executed very very soon…
BillBlasio Communist New Green Deal will fully trashed after 2020!!! God Bless America!!! God Save Donald Trump for MAGA Grand Victory in 2020!!!

        • What has an ideological rant have to do with this project? A Facebook account for this kind of thing would be more suitable. It certainly has no place in this forum. Have you nothing apposite to say about the project free of personal political views?

Design for this tower is well suite the whole street envelope of 1st Avenue UN District. The glass enclosure of this Turkish Consulate Building is true majestic and masterpiece of architectural design.
I’m not against this building, and it’s good addition to that neighborhood.
Now we have all new constructed glass buildings as red rag against BillBlasio/AOC Bull’s eyes. I’m personally loved when they are going to mad, showing all their darked evil for true American patriots!!!
