Permits have been filed for a 21-story residential building at 14-16 Fifth Avenue in Greenwich Village, Manhattan. Located between East 8th Street and East 9th Street, the lot is one block north of Washington Square Park and a short walk to the 8th Street subway station, serviced by the R and W trains. Madison Realty Capital is listed as the owner behind the applications, purchasing the mixed-use property in 2015 from City Urban Realty for $27.5 million.

The proposed 244-foot-tall development will yield 89,994 square feet designated for residential space. The building will have 18 residences, most likely condos, with an average scope just shy of 5,000 square feet. The concrete-based structure will also have a cellar.

Hill West Architects is listed as the architect of record. Previous designs by Robert A.M. Stern for the property included a 27-story tower with an ornate crown.

Demolition permits have not been filed as of yet. An estimated completion date has not been announced.

Have the new owners gotten LAndmark Preservation Committee approval yet? I believe this is inside the Greenwich Village Historic District.
