Queens-based developer Like Minded People has released renderings for a recently approved eight-story residential development in Brownsville, Brooklyn. Frank J. Quatela Architect was commissioned to design the new building at 1663 East New York Avenue, which will eventually comprise 42 affordable housing units.
Updated renderings depict a concrete structure enclosed in a gray-hued enclosure. The building incorporates a large setback above the sixth floor that will eventually support a communal roof terrace.
Permits approved in April 2019 disclosed an 85-foot-tall structure with 29,085 square feet specified for residential use. The 42 apartments will average approximately 692 square feet apiece, indicating rentals. The building will also include tenant storage and a rooftop terrace.
A construction timeline for the project, which replaces an undeveloped lot used for glass and car repairs, has not been announced.
