Full demolition permits have been filed for 4650 Broadway in Inwood, Manhattan. Joseph Caruso under the Aqozfi Inwood LLC is listed as the owner. Located at the intersection of Broadway and Sherman Avenue, the 47,175-square-foot site has 180 feet of street frontage.

In 2018 YIMBY previously reported plans from Hello Living to build a $190 million mixed-use development. Designed by GreenbergFarrow, the project would consist of 272 residential units with 30 percent of the units designated as affordable, 140,000 square feet of community facility, and 40,000 square feet of commercial space. New construction permits have not been filed as of yet and it is unclear if the proposed plans has changed.

4650 Broadway is within walking distance of the two Dyckman Street subway stations, serviced by the 1 and A trains.

Stroh Engineering Services is listed as the applicant of record.

  1. This is taking long enough. Towers like this should be all over Inwood.

  2. yes destroy new york history for greed and developer personal profit with no regard to the neighborhood. now that’s what i call sensible development

  3. Inwood is a low rise hood. Maybe some taller not a lot taller bldg are inevitable but what ought not be inevitable is higher rent. We need true affordability in all units. There are more poor than you think in Inwood and all of NYC

Do do we explain the high rise projects east of Broadway? Or the Riverdale high rises visible from where we are Up? Up to 12 stories seems fine for most of Inwood. This would be the tallest residence in 10034 for decades.

    • Are the public housing projects in Inwood invisible to you?

      • Dyckman houses are the tallest buildings in Inwood, yes, but their FAR is actually quite low given the enormous lot size.

Bottom line is that the original rezoning attempt at this site tried to jam R9 housing into Inwood, which was quite preposterous at the time. Now that the Inwood Rezoning to the north of here passed with R9 densities and 30 story buildings it is less so. Any application that doesn’t lie (as this current one seems to) will be met with an open mind.

  4. Inwood and Washington Heights need many more of these.
