The affordable housing lottery has launched for The Sophia, an 11-story residential building at 5055 Broadway in Inwood, Manhattan. Designed by Fischer + Makooi Architects and developed by Timber Equities, the structure yields 60 residences. Available on NYC Housing Connect are 13 units for residents at 40 to 130 percent of the area median income (AMI), ranging in eligible income from $41,280 to $189,540.
Residents will have access to a wide range of amenities including assigned parking, shared laundry room, yoga and dance studio, media room, business center, children’s playroom, a doorman, and a landscaped roof garden. Units include name-brand appliances and finishes, air conditioning, and hardwood floors.
At 40 percent of the AMI, there are three one-bedrooms with a monthly rent of $1,040 for incomes ranging from $41,280 to $58,320, and three two-bedrooms with a monthly rent of $1,231 for incomes ranging from $49,749 to $70,000.
At 60 percent of the AMI, there are six one-bedrooms with a monthly rent of $1,622 for incomes ranging from $61,235 to $87,480.
At 130 percent of the AMI, there is one one-bedroom with a monthly rent of $3,078 for incomes ranging from $111,155 to $189,540.
Prospective renters must meet income and household size requirements to apply for these apartments. Applications must be postmarked or submitted online no later than January 27, 2026.
