The affordable housing lottery has launched for The Atrium at Sumner Senior Housing, an 11-story residential building at 57 Marcus Garvey Boulevard in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn. Designed by Studio Libeskind and developed in partnership by RiseBoro Community Partnership, Urban Builders Collaborative, and Selfhelp Realty Group, The Melamid Institute for Affordable Housing, NYCHA, the NYC Department of Housing Preservation and Development, and the NYC Housing Development Corporation, the structure yields 190 residences. Available on NYC Housing Connect are 99 units for residents at 50 percent of the area median income (AMI), ranging in eligible income from $0 to $60,050.
Amenities include a shared laundry room, common area Wi-Fi, gym, community center, media center, indoor garden and atrium space, elevator, on-site resident manager, and a Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE) senior center. Residences come with air conditioning. Tenants are responsible for electricity, which includes stoves and air conditioners.
At 50 percent of the AMI, there are 79 studios with a monthly rent of $0 for incomes ranging from $0 to $53,400, and 20 one-bedrooms with a monthly rent of $0 for incomes ranging from $0 to $60,050.
Prospective renters must meet income and household size requirements to apply for these apartments. Applications must be postmarked or submitted online no later than June 1, 2023.
