Brooklyn Fare Kitchen & Market has opened its newest location at the base of One Manhattan Square, an 80-story residential skyscraper at 225 Cherry Street on Manhattan’s Lower East Side. At 25,500 square feet, this is the largest location to date for the grocery store.
Designed by Adamson Associates and developed by Extell, the 847-foot-tall structure was completed in 2019 and yields 815 residential units as well as more than 100,000 square feet of amenities. The property is bound by Cherry Street to the north, South Street to the south, and Pike Street to the west.
Brooklyn Fare Kitchen & Market’s retail space at One Manhattan Square features an all-glass storefront, 20-foot ceilings, and over 80 feet of frontage along Cherry Street.
“We are excited to bring this amazing amenity to the community and to residents of One Manhattan Square,” said Alan Oppenheimer, vice president of development at Extell Development Company. “Brooklyn Fare has garnered a reputation for one of the best grocers in New York City and it’s fitting for their newest location to be located in our building.”
The closest subway from One Manhattan Square is the F train at the East Broadway station to the northeast.

An excellent addition to serve the primarily lower class residents of the surrounding public housing.
It’s amazing money moves in mysterious ways this market is to serve the MONOLITH 1st and foremost, environmental impact study will any of the non monolith residents be able to afford this market. NEVER FORGET A 24HOUR PATHMARK IS THE BASE FOR THIS MONOLITH, WAS TO BE REPLACED BY OTHER SUPERMARKETS CHAIN WHO WERE TOLD NO DUE TO THE PLANS OF THE MONOLITH. 100 SUPERMARKET COMMUNITY JOBS WERE LOST RESIDENTS PUT A GREAT EXPENSE CRIME INCREASED IN THE IMMEDIATE AREA AND THIS MONOLITH IS 1 OF 5 TOWERS THAT ARE PROPOSED DURING THE BLOOMBERG ADMINISTRATION WITH NYCHA PUBLIC HOUSING BUILDINGS TO BE DEMOLISHED AT LA GUARDIA AND VLADECK HOUSES. YES TO MAKE WAY FOR 4 MORE TOWERS AND A PUBLIC SCHOOL WILL BE DISPLACED
I wish this building were not there. It is terribly misplaced.
Never forget the MONOLITH is 1 of 5 proposed

sw60/ there’s no way the tall building contributed to “CRIME INCREASED IN THE IMMEDIATE AREA”. It’s just the crime increased everywhere and might have increased even more without this building. There are plenty of shops around that area so I don’t understand your anger towards it saying it led to 100 “SUPERMARKET COMMUNITY JOBS WERE LOST”. I’m not saying the super tall bldg is a good addition to the neighborhood but your argument is too stretched
Let’s build more of these buildings!
This is so sad. Developers make bad neighbors.
