The affordable housing lottery has launched for The Hartby, at the recently restored and renovated St. John’s College building, built in 1870 by architect Patrick Keely. Located at 788 Willoughby Avenue in Bedford Stuyvesant, Brooklyn, the 205-unit residential conversion was designed by Woods Bagot, with interiors by Alchemy Studio, and developed by Property Resources Corporation. Available on NYC Housing Connect are 62 units for residents at 130 percent of the area median income (AMI), ranging in eligible income from $85,543 to $218,010.
Amenities include a fully-equipped fitness center, private party room, business center, library, indoor-outdoor lounge, activated roof deck with barbecue stations, pet spa, and a landscaped building interior courtyard. Residents will also have access to a double-height lobby with a part-time doorman, bike storage, package lockers, a common laundry room, and an on-site parking garage with electric car charging stations. Residences come with washers and dryers, dishwashers, air conditioning, hardwood floors, patios or balconies, and name-brand kitchen appliances, countertops, and finishes.
At 130 percent of the AMI, there are 14 studios with a monthly rent of $2,495 for incomes ranging from $85,543 to $161,590; 45 one-bedrooms with a monthly rent of $2,795 for incomes ranging from $95,829 to $181,740; and three two-bedrooms with a monthly rent of $3,939 for incomes ranging from $135,052 to $218,010.
Prospective renters must meet income and household size requirements to apply for these apartments. Applications must be postmarked or submitted online no later than October 14, 2024.
