372 Wallabout Street Nears Completion in South Williamsburg, Brooklyn

Construction is nearing completion on 372 Wallabout Street, a five-story mixed-use building in the Broadway Triangle section of South Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Designed by Diego Aguilera Architects P.C., the 65-foot-tall structure will span 8,100 square feet and yield six units with an average scope of 867 square feet, as well as 2,900 square feet of community facility space. The building sits on a 2,500-square-foot plot between Throop and Harrison Avenues.

Recent photographs show the slender superstructure clad primarily in light gray EIFS paneling with a grid of rectangular windows and balconies on the upper levels, and matching light gray brick surrounding tall arched windows on the first two stories. The appearance of these windows, as well as the set of arched windows on the rear elevation, suggest that the community facility will be occupied by a church. A setback at the northern corner of the sixth floor will likely support a terrace space.

The rear southeastern elevation features a double-height annex extending 100 feet deep to the edge of the property. The exposed CMU blocks and insulation layer are still awaiting their final façade treatment.

DOB zoning diagrams and figures indicate the residential units will range in size from 610 to 1,625 square feet with two units per level on floors two through five.

The nearest subways from the property are the J, M, and Z trains at the elevated Lorimer Street station to the north over Broadway, and the G train at the Flushing Avenue station to the southwest along Marcy Avenue.

A revised completion date for 372 Wallabout Street has yet to be announced, but YIMBY predicts construction will conclude before the end of the year.
