Construction is finishing up on 120 East 144th Street, a 13-story residential building in Mott Haven, The Bronx. Designed by S. Wieder Architect PC and developed by Beitel Group, the 289,000-square-foot structure yields 450 rental units in studio to two-bedroom layouts, with 86 reserved for affordable housing. The property is bound by East 144th Street, and Gerard and Walton Avenues.
Recent photos show the reinforced concrete superstructure fully clad in its façade of industrial-style floor-to-ceiling windows and grid of beveled concrete paneling. The upper levels include setbacks and cutouts in the floor plates to form pocketed terraces lined with dark metal railings, and the western elevation along Gerard Avenue features a distinctive angled cantilever at its midway point.
Some minor finishing touches are still concluding on the main entrance along East 144th Street, where sheets of brown paper cover the windows and some white film remains on the black mullions. Work on the lobby interiors, floors, and ceiling is also nearly done.
The following exterior and interior renderings depict the final appearance of the project. A courtyard sits in the middle of the U-shaped building.
Residential amenities include a rooftop terrace, fitness center, dog run, pet spa, yoga studio, business center, party room, children’s playroom, lobby lounge, a 24-hour doorman, and an attended parking garage. Amenity fees are waived for the first year.
Beitel Group acquired the property in 2022 and secured a $150 million loan last April as part of a series of loans issued by SCALE.
The nearest subways from the development are the 4 and 5 trains at the 138th Street-Grand Concourse station to the southeast and the 2, 4, and 5 trains at the 149th Street-Grand Concourse station to the northeast.
YIMBY predicts construction at 120 East 144th Street will fully finish later this spring.

It’s weird and with a piece that is getting smaller
This prominent diagonal beam will mask the stench of urine, that a mentally ill person has made in the toilet: Thanks.
What a monster! Is that water on the ceiling? How did they learn how to defy gravity?
Wicked was only released a couple of months ago.
Great to see this in Mott Haven
Wow this building is huge!
Wow how times have changed. This area was considered somewhat of a slum years back! Rents are now what? SMH. I’m not sure of the demographic this is geared toward. Can anyone enlighten me me? I’ve been away from The Bronx for many years.
Area still has many quality of life issues but this location is isolated from the residential core of the neighborhood. This corridor is starting a new and transforming from an industrial location into a mixed use community.
To attract new residents to the area who have more disposable income. So people can stop calling the South Bronx “the poorest….”
This is amazing addicting to Mott Haven neighborhood
Wow l grew up in Mitchell Houses and for Mott Haven looks grand.
