Hermès Flagship Store Nears Completion at 111 North 6th Street in Williamsburg, Brooklyn

Construction is nearing completion on 111 North 6th Street, a two-story retail building in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Designed by Building Studio Architects and developed by investment firm L3 Capital, the 8,500-square-foot structure will house the first Brooklyn location for French brand Hermès. The property is located at the corner of North 6th Street and Berry Street.

Nearly all exterior work has concluded since our last update in July, when the structure had recently topped out and stood shrouded in scaffolding and construction netting. Recent photos show the finished look of the red and black brick façade, which is adorned with a grid of faux window reliefs with decorative lintels. Oversized mullion-free windows are recessed within the faux fenestration on the southern and eastern elevations, and the entrance sits at the corner within a deep cutout.

The northern rear profile has a sleek surface of dark glazed bricks, tall floor-to-ceiling windows, and thin perimeter columns with rounded metalwork. A temporary perimeter of metal fencing and sidewalk barriers obstructs the ground floor, but should be removed in the coming weeks as work draws to a close.

The former deign for the Hermès store, pictured below, would have utilized much larger panes of floor-to-ceiling windows and a simpler contemporary design.

The property features 147 feet of wraparound street frontage. The building contains 4,850 square feet on the first level with 16-foot-high ceilings, 3,600 square feet on the second level with 16-foot-high ceilings, and 3,120 square feet in the cellar.

Hermès is temporarily operating in a 5,400-square-foot pop-up at 91 North 6th Street, designed by Kenneth Park Architects.

The nearest subway from the property is the L train at the Bedford Avenue station. The North Williamsburg ferry terminal is also nearby at the northwestern end of North 6th Street along the East River.

YIMBY expects Hermès to open at 111 North 6th Street later this spring or summer.

I am stumped. How can such a location be considered a flagship? Would not a location, in Paris for instance be the flagship? Has marketing come up with a new definition of flagship?

Flagship stores denote that they carry the complete collection and offer full services. Apparently some stores do not.

Was that always the definition of a flagship store or has the definition of flagship been changed like the definition of vaccines was changed?

Wow, this is a delightfully quirky design bespoke for the neighborhood. The only thing more quirky is an Hermēs store in Williamsburg. Good luck.

    • Incredibly unique and beautifully designed building in the best location for local shoppers in Williamsburg like me & many others.

  4. Classy and surreal..

  5. Veeeery different.

  6. Wonderful photos and it’s great that they considered making a structure that respects the local neighborhood instead of just a flashy glass box

  7. Hermés in Williamsburg?!? We’ve definitely reached peak gentrification

  11. Very exciting!

  12. so to be clear, the buildings are totally new? the bricked in windows, just a facade (ha) ?

    welcome to Bklyn

  13. Having gone to high school but a few doors down from this address on N.6th, I find it hard to fit inside my mind. I guess a $500 scarf is just what a kid from Greenpoint today needs to be wearing while playing stickball down by the docks. Yes, Greenpoint…
