Permits have been filed for a nine-story residential building at 185-17 Hillside Avenue in Jamaica, Queens. Located between Dainy Road and Chelsea Street, the lot is near the Jamaica-179th Street subway station, served by the F train. Howard Lorch of Ohel Children’s Home and Family Services is listed as the owner behind the applications.
The proposed 90-foot-tall development will yield 72,087 square feet designated for residential space. The building will have 94 residences, most likely rentals based on the average unit scope of 766 square feet. The concrete-based structure will also have a cellar and a 30-foot-long rear yard.
Monica Lopez Architecture is listed as the architect of record.
Demolition permits have not been filed yet. An estimated completion date has not been announced.

This lot used to be an animal hospital. This building will be sandwiched between two other outdated apartment buildings. Honestly, the area leaves a lot to be desired.
