Demolition is complete at 50-64 Third Avenue, the site of a forthcoming residential building in Manhattan’s East Village. Developed by Kinsmen Property Group, a joint venture between State Building Group and Madison Group, the new structure will have a maximum of buildable scope of 160,000 square feet. An architect and further details about the interior programming have yet to be disclosed. The 16,500-square-foot property is located at the corner of Third Avenue and East 11th Street.
The multi-parcel assemblage currently sits cleared and idle behind the wooden sidewalk fencing, with no signs of imminent excavation. Demolition began last fall on the six former occupants, which were all razed with the exception of a lone five-story structure that remains standing at the southern corner of the city block along East 10th Street.
The below rendering from State Building Group’s website shows the former design iteration, a commercial and retail building featuring a glassy exterior, a setback with an outdoor terrace filled with shrubbery, and a flat roof with additional greenery.
Kinsmen Property Group purchased the six properties over the course of several years for a total of more than $60 million. The nearest subways from the site are the 6 train at the Astor Place station and the R and W trains at the 8th Street–NYU station.
A construction timeline and renderings for 50-64 Third Avenue have yet to be revealed.
