New renderings have been released for 2875 John F. Kennedy Boulevard, a 54-story residential skyscraper in Journal Square, Jersey City. The proposed structure is expected to stand more than 550 feet tall and yield 790 rental units, as well as 60,000 square feet of retail space including a supermarket. The property is located at the intersection of John F. Kennedy Boulevard and Bergen Avenue.
An architect and developer have yet to be announced.
The above main rendering shows the building beginning with an expansive multistory podium, followed by the main tower featuring two interlocking rectangular volumes with a single setback near the flat roof. The following images give a closer look at the lower levels and façade, which will be composed of bronze-hued paneling surrounding an irregular grid of rectangular windows on the podium and a glass curtain wall on the tower. The supermarket will occupy the curved corner of the ground floor at the southern end of the property.
The below map details 2875 John F. Kennedy Boulevard’s footprint. The development will include a pedestrianized public plaza called Art Walk, starting at Kennedy Boulevard and meandering north past the residential complex underway at 808 and 813 Pavonia Avenue and terminating just beyond Van Reipen Avenue.

The residential lobby will be situated along the southwestern corner of the building. A loading dock will sit on the rear northern side of the ground floor.
The property is currently occupied by several low-rise commercial structures, as seen in the following Google Street View image.
The site is located directly across the street from the Journal Square PATH train.
An anticipated start and completion date for 2875 John F. Kennedy Boulevard has yet to be announced.

Looks kind of like Handel.
gives off a similar vibe with the facade they designed for The Maybury
The base height should reference the theater height by adding an additional floor or adjusting height to align with theater’s parapet. Also lose the weird tv screen looking thing. What the hell is that anyway?
This is a little mysterious. “An architect and developer have yet to be announced.” Did AI create the rendering, which then released itself?
Scary version?
Maybe.
Jersey City skyline to rival most major cities in the US.
Adjacent NYC probably has a bit to do with that.
Ya think they might have gotten their plan for the curved podium from the ‘current’ Cohen’s Optical there now?
Bye bye boulevard drinks 🥹
Will they move?
I wonder what happened to the old sign they used to have?
They should really pull back the base a little to widen the sidewalk. With all the folks moving in it would be better to have as wide of a sidewalk as possible at this corner. Also I do hope Boulevard Drinks can find a new location.
That shouldn’t come about by disrupting the street wall though. If they want additional sidewalk width it should come about by bulging out the curb at the intersection and tame some of that traffic.
Bulbing out not bulging out. Stupid auto-correct.
They are pulling the base back at the ground floor to widen the sidewalk. If you look at the renderings, the second floor overhangs the first floor, and if you look at the first floor plans, the entire first floor is set back several feet from the lot line.
Jersey City:
Too crowded
Too over priced
Too soulless
Alright.
Bring back The Tube
This is massive and another great addition to the Journal Square skyline. Never thought it was be as dense as other areas like LIC or downtown Brooklyn
The next phase was inevitable, getting rid of the low income and working class shopping district on JFK Boulevard.
I was recently at JSQ for the first time in years.
I have to say that the size and density of the new towers was a shock.
The character of JSQ has completely changed and not necessarily for the better.
I doubt if there will be a place for Blvd Drinks at the new location, the same way there was no place for Bickfords and The Griddle.
