Exterior work is progressing on 1861 Amsterdam Avenue, a five-story residential building in Hamilton Heights, Manhattan. Designed by David Jimenez and developed by Artifact Real Estate Development Company, the 58-foot-tall structure will span 38,108 square and yield 47 rental units with an average scope of 689 square feet. The project will also include 5,712 square feet of commercial space, a cellar level, and an 18-foot-long rear yard. The property is located at the corner of Amsterdam Avenue and West 152nd Street.
The reinforced concrete superstructure stands topped out and largely covered in scaffolding and netting. Sections of the upper levels are visible through the shroud, revealing the brick façade and stone cornices surrounding the grid of windows. Crews will likely start removing more of the scaffolding over the coming weeks.
The property was formerly occupied by four low-rise structures from 1861 to 1873 Amsterdam Avenues, as seen in the below Google Street View image from before their demolition.
A finalized rendering was not spotted, except for the above preliminary rendering. Although appearing to be outdated based on the configuration of the building massing, it still shows the size and scale of the project over the neighborhood.
The nearest subway from the ground-up development is the C train at the 155th Street station to the northeast.
1861 Amsterdam Avenue’s anticipated completion date is slated for June 2026, as noted on site.

This is promising.
Thankfully, the brick facade looks better than what’s shown in the rendering.
The rendering looks absolutely zero like what has been constructed so far so I think it’s a safe bet the rendering is meaningless.
Much nicer than the rendering. It looks taller than five stories.
